Jukari – Fit to Fly
Flying through the air might scare the daylights out of some people, but when paired with a fitness element, it seems like it could be a really creative way to work out. Reebok and Cirque du Soleil have joined forces to design a new gym workout called Jukari Fit to Fly, which combines suspension and cardio training into a fun one-hour class.
The class is based on a piece of equipment called the FlySet, and the companies call it “a workout that gives the sensation of flying while strengthening and lengthening the body through cardio, strength, balance and core training.” That seems to be the whole point, as the brands say their main goal is making fitness fun again for women.
Cycle Yoga
Yoga-cycle is a cycling-specific, sequenced asana training program, individually tailored to the demands of your body mechanics and personal riding style. yoga-cycle will develop a sequenced asana practice designed to maximize your own body’s ability to perform at it’s highest level, avoid injuries! By integrating the ideas of alignment based yoga therapy in the development of your overall training program, the yoga-cycle program can help you to increase performance, minimize risk of injury, speed recovery, relieve discomfort! Whether you are an ultramarathoner, cyclocross or mountain bike racer, time trialer, road racer, or a commuter/weekender, yoga-cycle can help you find your personal peak and HAVE MORE FUN!
After an initial discussion of your cycling goals, including an evaluation of your body mechanics, an Asana Sequencing session will be scheduled. During this session you will be introduced to the first five or six asanas (yoga postures) that will form the foundation of your practice. The trainer will instruct you in the proper form and function of each asana, fully explaining how each asana sequence builds from a foundation of basic alignments to a performance-enhancing tool. Further sessions, usually one every week, will introduce further refinements to your sequence and begin to incorporate classical meditation and breathing techniques (pranayama) into your training and practice. By approaching your cycling training in this way, a solid foundation of healthy practices is developed, allowing your body to acheive a much higher level of fitness and HAVE MORE FUN!
Poledance Fitness
Pole dancing is becoming almost mainstream, but there are still a lot of misconceptions about what it’s really all about. Of course, everyone has their own take on that subject, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a great way to build some incredible strength and have a ton of fun at the same time.
But playing on a pole is not just about the fun factor. Your dance pole is a vertical home gym if you know how to use it properly. In fact, there are a huge variety of exercises you can do on your pole to increase your strength and flexibility, even if you never wanted to dance on it (which I’d find hard to believe!).
But no matter which side you’re on when it comes to the whole fitness vs oppression argument, it’s hard to deny that a pole can get you into some pretty serious shape.
